Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about ATS scoring, resume optimization, billing, and getting the most from MyCareerRocket.

General

Getting started, ATS basics, and how MyCareerRocket fits your job search.

What is an ATS score?

An ATS (Applicant Tracking System) score is a 0-100 rating that shows how well your resume will perform when scanned by automated screening software used by employers. MyCareerRocket analyzes formatting, keywords, content structure, and parseability to give you an instant compatibility score.

How does MyCareerRocket help me get more interviews?

We identify why ATS systems reject resumes—poor formatting, missing keywords, weak structure, and parse errors—then use AI to improve your real experience without fabrication. You see before-and-after scores so you know exactly what changed.

Is this better than using ChatGPT for my resume?

For ATS optimization, yes. ChatGPT gives generic advice without measuring ATS compatibility. MyCareerRocket provides measurable 0-100 scores and optimization designed specifically for Applicant Tracking Systems.

Who is MyCareerRocket for?

Students, career changers, and job seekers who want to tailor resumes to specific roles, track applications, and improve ATS performance. Colleges can also use institutional plans for student career services.

Technical

Resume uploads, scoring, optimization, and platform compatibility.

What file types can I upload?

You can upload PDF and DOCX resume files. After upload, MyCareerRocket extracts the text for ATS scoring, AI optimization, and side-by-side comparison with tailored rewrites.

What ATS systems does this work with?

MyCareerRocket optimizes for major ATS platforms including Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, Taleo, iCIMS, and BambooHR. Our scoring reflects common parsing requirements used across enterprise hiring stacks.

How long does resume optimization take?

Most users complete upload, scoring, and AI optimization in under a minute. ATS scoring typically returns in seconds, and tailored rewrites are generated in about 30 seconds depending on resume length.

Can I compare my original resume with AI-generated versions?

Yes. Open My Optimized Resumes to review uploaded originals alongside each AI-generated rewrite, including ATS score improvements before you download or apply.

Does the AI fabricate experience on my resume?

No. Optimizations are based on your uploaded resume and the job description you select. The goal is to improve wording, structure, and keyword alignment—not invent roles or skills you do not have.

Billing

Plans, free limits, upgrades, and subscription management.

What is included in the free plan?

Free accounts include 1 AI resume optimization per month, up to 10 tracked job applications, ATS scoring, and access to the dashboard. Upgrade to Pro or Premium for unlimited optimizations and additional features.

What happens after I use my free optimization?

Once you reach your monthly free limit, further AI optimizations are blocked until you upgrade or your usage resets next month. You can still upload resumes, track applications, and review past optimizations.

How do I upgrade or manage my subscription?

Go to Dashboard → Settings to view your current plan, usage meters, and available upgrades. Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe, and you can manage billing from the customer portal.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel a paid subscription from the billing portal in Settings. You keep access through the end of your billing period, then return to the free plan limits.

Do colleges get different pricing?

Yes. Institutional plans include admin analytics, student usage reporting, and volume pricing. Visit Pricing or contact us for partnership details.
